Black-and-white pencil and ink drawing: a dormouse dad standing on two legs, crying big tears with his mouth wide open. He wears a jacket, a tied belt and boots. He holds a wet envelope with a limp squid dangling out, dripping. Wavy smell lines rise from the envelope and from a puddle by his feet. His thin tail has a tuft at the tip.

Day 16

The Firmest Dried Squid Arrives… Floppy

The slightly smelly letter was for Miss Dormouse's papa. Inside was his favorite treat, ordered online: the finest (make that firmest) dried squid. But soaked by the rain, the dried squid had come back to life as a wobbly, jiggly squid. The squid waved all 10 legs, totally relaxed: "Oh, hi." "…My… dried… squid…" From the scary boss's eyes, one big tear rolled down. Then his face went black as squid ink with rage, and he shook—just as jiggly as the squid. "What is this floppy, jiggly squid?! I can't eat this!" "And why is it alive? Does dried squid come back to life when you soak it?" "We're storming the post office!" Dolphin, Orca Postmaster, run for it— Hell hath no fury like a boss robbed of his snack. To be continued
